Cutting a notch around a window is pretty simple. Remember to mark it with 1/4” space in the J-channel to allow the siding to expand and contract freely. Some people measure the window, then mark the siding. I prefer to hold the siding up to mark it so I don’t have to remember measurements or risk error. Depending on where the rip cut ends up, I’ll either use a knife to cut it or my snips. In this case the rip cut is too close to the mid point rib of the siding, so it would make using the snips
