I plug a fireTV stick into the HDMI splitter and I get 5.1 Dolby out of the sound coaxial port on both the splitter and the HDTV, so the hardware works.

Dec 15, 2019 · An HDMI 1.4 port supports 3840X2160 resolution, but at 30 Hz. Even ignoring "Anibor's" post, you won't get UHD resolution at a good refresh rate. As it stands, the laptops resolution is 1366X768. The image is getting scaled up 3X (in both axes), so it's probably not going to look crisp.
