What’s the difference with Half Life 2 and Half Life Episode 1/2?
The Episodics are set immediately after Half-Life 2. Episode 1 takes you on the journey to escape the citadel and City 17. Episode 2 also follows immediately after Ep1 and is the final journey leading to the hindering & near takedown of the Combine. Trying to keep it at vague as possible not to ruin gameplay.

The thing that's annoying is that you can tell when they shipped Episode 2, they were still convinced that Episode 3 is right around the corner. It's not the kind of last moment you want to have for 8 years.
