Karl Urban (born Karl-Heinz Urban on June 7, 1972 in Wellington, New Zealand) played the role of Éomer, Marshal of Rohan, in The Lord of the Rings film trilogy directed by Peter Jackson.

His career began with appearances in New Zealand films and television series such as Xena: Warrior Princess. His first Hollywood role was in the 2002 horror film Ghost Ship.

Karl's biggest roles include Éomer in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, as well as Dr. Leonard "Bones" McCoy in Star Trek (2009), William Cooper in RED (2010) and Judge Dredd in Dredd (2012).
