Peter John Joseph Murphy was born on 11 July 1957 [6] in Northampton, Northamptonshire, [7] the seventh child of a large rural working-class family. [2] He has one elder brother, Daniel, and a twin brother, Christopher. [8] Murphy is of Irish descent. [9]
