Where to find overnight shelters, warming centers in Metro Detroit
Some facilities in Metro Detroit are warming centers, or places where people can go during the day. Other facilities are overnight shelters. A list of these amenities in each Metro Detroit county is below. All facilities will be closed on Martin Luther King Jr. day, unless otherwise noted.
Communities across southeast Michigan are working to provide temporary relief from the extreme cold moving through this week.
To access these warming centers or year-round emergency shelters, residents should call the City of Detroit’s Housing Services Helpline at 866-313-2520 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.
