Alabama football will not only look to win the SEC but also lock up a spot in the College Football Playoff with a win over Georgia.

While Georgia coach Kirby Smart has dominated just about every team he plays, Alabama remains his personal boogeyman. The Crimson Tide won each of those last two SEC Championship Game matchups and they have a 7-1 record against Smart, a former Nick Saban assistant.

The Alabama Crimson Tide won 24-21 in late September, giving the Georgia Bulldogs what would be their only loss of the season. Usually, when a team wins the regular-season matchup in a close game, I like to take the opposite side in the rematch, but not here. This series is different.

Georgia and Alabama already met earlier this season with the Crimson Tide winning 24-21 on the road. The defeat was Georgia's lone loss of the season. Alabama and Georgia have taken different paths to make the SEC championship, but both teams have played their best against ranked opposition this season.
