The same whale that made world headlines in 2018 for pushing her dead newborn calf around for 17 days, has now spent at least nine days doing the same with her calf that died around New Year's Eve.

For at least 11 days, a mother killer whale has been carrying the body of her dead newborn calf. Only a handful of days old, the female calf was confirmed dead on New Year's Eve. The next day, the southern resident orca mom, known as Tahlequah or J35, was seen with the dead calf “draped across her snout” or placed on top of her head.

"She is trying to tell you something." While Tahlequah is out of sight at the moment, people on land continue to be concerned for her and grieve with her.
