Gov. Hochul is not removing Mayor Adams from office, but is proposing a series of strict guardrails that would impose greater oversight and control over the operations of Adams and New York City

The Democratic governor said she would propose new guardrails for “establishing trust” for city residents amid the mayor’s growing political crisis.

Gov. Kathy Hochul will not yet use her power to remove Mayor Eric Adams from office, but will instead propose measures at the state and city levels to increase oversight of City Hall and give other city officials more resources to stand up to incursions by the federal government.
