Ian Rapoport of NFL Network joined a New England Patriots podcast to recognize QB Drake Maye's "mythical reputation."

The Pro Bowl wasn't just fun and games for New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye, who also did a little recruiting while in Orlando, Florida.

Patriots QB Drake Maye noted that he was doing what he could to pitch Pro Bowlers on the Patriots ahead of a busy offseason.

Peyton Manning appeared on “The Pat McAfee Show” and talked about Maye’s willingness to learn the game. Most notably, he said he noticed the young quarterback in a productive conversation with Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield.

Maye was throwing to wide receivers Ja’Marr Chase, Jerry Jeudy, Nico Collins and Brian Thomas Jr. in the Pro Bowl Games. None of those players will be free agents this offseason, but Chase is set to play on his fifth-year option in 2025 without a contract extension currently in place.

Teammate Christian Gonzalez called him a superstar, one that could elevate the team to playoff contention as soon as next season. Coach Mike Vrabel listed him as one of the reasons he was interested in taking the job. Former players expressed confidence that the return of offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels will only maximize Maye.

The New England Patriots fired head coach Jerod Mayo and let most of his staff go after their 2024 season finished with a 4-13 record. Those firings also included offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt who installed the offense that rookie quarterback Drake Maye learned in his first NFL season.
