Fighting between Sudan’s army and the Rapid Support Forces has intensified in the country's central Kordofan region.

Bishop Christian Carlassare of Bentiu, South Sudan’s newest diocese, has urged good governance and selfless service as the nation celebrated its independence day on July 9.

Sudanese activists said on Monday that the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) killed almost 300 people in attacks in North Kordofan state that began on Saturday.
