Many students love getting a break from school during the summer months, but it’s an easy time for children to fall behind in their literacy and comprehension skills.

While schools across the country have shed librarians, Leigh Knapp became the first full-time librarian at her school.

The increase outpaces the state, which has seen slightly less than a 2% increase in scores. MCS believes this is from the switch in reading curriculum in 2023.
