The chances of a "significant severe weather threat" in the South next week are continuing to grow just as the U.S. and other nations in the Northern Hemisphere usher in the start of meteorological spring.

Severe weather is not expected tomorrow night, but brief heavy rain and lightning are possible. There will be isolated showers on and off on Monday. Stronger storms are expected to arrive overnight into Tuesday morning. Large hail and damaging winds are anticipated with these storms, with the highest risk in our eastern half.

A First Alert Weather Day is issued for the Monday overnight hours heading into the Tuesday morning commute. Strong to severe storms are expected to move from west to east over North Texas.
