Swift water rescue technicians from the Shreveport Fire Department have been in Kerrville, Texas for six days now. They were sent there to respond to the catastrophic Fourth of July flooding that happened in the Texas Hill Country.

In the heart of Kerrville, hundreds gathered Thursday evening for a community vigil honoring the victims of the catastrophic Hill Country flooding — a disaster that has already claimed at least 103 lives in Kerr County, with more than 100 still missing.

Multiple parts of Central Texas, including Kerr County, were shocked by flash floods Friday when the Guadalupe River and others rose rapidly.

As the floodwaters rushed into Kerrville, Texas, under the cover of darkness on Friday morning, officers jumped into action to evacuate over 100 homes and rescue more than 200 people in one hour, the police department said.
