Parents of Los Angeles Unified School District students are speaking out after a teenager was mistakenly detained by federal immigration agents outside of Arleta High School on Monday, voicing their concerns as the new school year approaches.

A 15-year-old boy with disabilities was detained by federal agents at gunpoint on Monday in front of a high school, the Los Angeles Unified School District said. The district said the confrontation happened Monday morning in front of Arleta High School when the teen and his grandmother were in a car while a relative registered at the school.

LAUSD said a teen with disabilities was wrongly detained by immigration officers near Arleta High School, federal agents said they were after a man with a criminal record.
