Detroit City Council President Mary Sheffield sat down with WDET to discuss her vision for the city if elected mayor in 2025.

The council president spent time talking jobs, the economy and education and growth for young people - and girls - since Detroit has never had a woman as mayor.

The Detroit City Council President submitted 1,200 signatures, double the requirement. "We need a mayor that will go above and beyond," she said.

Sheffield says she wants to continue the growth and momentum in the city - and expand opportunity for more Detroiters.
