A quick-hitting snowstorm​ is set to hit most of Massachusetts Sunday night into Monday before an arctic blast of air arrives on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Parts of New England could see 6 inches of snow this weekend
As is typical with an offshore low, we have a period of northeast wind gusts. The pressure center lowers enough to gusts up to 30-40 mph at the coast, with inland spots up to 20 mph overnight Sunday. While this isn’t quite damaging wind, it will be a nuisance wind on top of periods of heavy snow.

Most New Englanders can expect to see anywhere from a coating to 2 inches on Saturday — around an inch in the Boston area and south into Rhode Island, and up to 3 inches in isolated spots in New Hampshire and Vermont. Recent frigid air has kept the ground frozen so snow will be able to accumulate fairly quickly.
