Rain chances will stay in the forecast Friday as a weak cold front approaches SWLA. Scattered showers or storms will become possible from the late morning into the afternoon as the front gets closer and things heat up.
A ridge of high pressure is expected to build over the region early next week, bringing quieter, drier weather. Rain chances will drop, and temperatures will start to climb—possibly rising above average by midweek. It’s a promising start to June for those looking forward to outdoor plans.
The steady speed of the overnight front should help to put a quick end to the storms. It’s possible that the front slows down a bit and could keep rain around as late as 9 AM Friday, but the vast majority should be storm free around sunrise with many drying out before then.
Today will bring a healthy coverage of showers and thunderstorms. It won’t rain all day, but some intervals of wet weather are a good bet at points throughout the day. The most intense storm cores will again be capable of producing isolated damaging wind gusts and perhaps some hail.
