The original Alexa software, built on top of technology acquired from British start-up Evi in 2012, was a question-answering machine that worked by searching within a defined universe of facts to find the right response, such as the day’s weather or a specific song in your music library.

Amazon’s Try Before You Buy program, which the company launched for all Prime members in 2018, will cease operations on Jan. 31. The offering, formerly known as Amazon Wardrobe, enabled consumers to test out certain apparel, fashion and footwear items from the company’s assortment at home for seven days before deciding whether to keep the piece.

Amazon is saying goodbye to “Try Before You Buy." The service, which allowed Amazon's Prime members to try on select clothing items, shoes and accessories at home before completing a purchase, is set to wind down in the coming weeks.

Amazon will shut down its Try Before You Buy Amazon Prime program at the end of January. The service, launched in 2018 as Prime Wardrobe, competed with similar try-before-you-buy services, such as Stitch Fix.

According to The New York Post, Amazon is ending its Prime-exclusive "Try Before You Buy" service, which allowed members to have certain apparel items shipping to their door to try on before completing the purchase. If the customer wasn't satisfied with the item, it could be returned at no cost.
