The Wolverines jumped out to a quick 16-0 lead and held on late for a 19-13 victory over No. 11 Alabama on Tuesday in the ReliaQuest Bowl in Tampa, Fla. Here are takeaways, observations from Michigan’s stunning upset over the Crimson Tide:

Although DeBoer’s season wasn’t the worst first year for a Crimson Tide coach, it snapped a streak of 10-win seasons. Alabama had won at least 10 games for 16 straight seasons. The last time the Crimson Tide didn’t win 10 games was in 2007, Saban’s first year.

That means Alabama finishes with a 9-4 record, the first non-10 win season since 2007, which was Nick Saban’s first year as coach of the Crimson Tide. After the loss, Alabama coach Kalen DeBoer held his postgame press conference.
