Winter Park voters overturned a controversial ban on gas-powered leafblowers and kept Kris Cruzada on the city commission, choosing the incumbent over a well-funded challenger, as ballots were cast in five Orange County suburbs Tuesday.

WINTER PARK, Fla. – Voters in Winter Park have repealed the ban on gas-powered leaf blowers following a recent referendum. The repeal passed with 54.51% of the vote, totaling 2,479 votes in favor and 2,069 against.

In 2022, city commissioners voted to ban those leaf blowers over noise and environmental concerns. They hoped the ordinance would force landscapers to use electric ones instead. O
