The damage from wildfires ravaging the Los Angeles area is horrific however it’s tallied. Neighborhoods have been erased, landmarks destroyed and lives lost.

A spokesperson said the Department of Homeland Security was not conducting any large-scale operations in Southern California amid fires.

The Hollywood Hills blazed uncontrollably on Thursday morning as the worst wildfires in the history of Los Angeles raged across the city and deep into the storied heartland of the American film industry.

Early estimates show that the total damage and economic loss due to the Los Angeles wildfires is between $135 and $150 billion.
