The halt to MD-11 flight operations comes after the deadly crash of a UPS aircraft of that type in Louisville, Kentucky.
The Federal Aviation Administration grounded all McDonnell Douglas MD-11 aircraft on concerns the engines and its structural wing components could fail as investigations continue into the deadly United Parcel Service Inc.
The deceased are believed to include the three people aboard the plane, who were identified Thursday by UPS as Capt. Richard Wartenberg, First Officer Lee Truitt and International Relief Officer Capt. Dana Diamond.
Veterans Day is on Tuesday, Nov. 11, and while restaurants, grocery stores, and retail stores will largely remain open on the day, banks and post offices will not.
