Rockets rookie guard Reed Sheppard was named the G League Player of the Week after a three-game stint with Rio Grande Valley.

After three strong games in the G League, the Rockets recalled rookie guard Reed Sheppard. Houston has three games coming up over the next four days.

The G League could serve as a valuable resource for Houston to keep the rookie fresh and ready to contribute when needed.

That is certainly proving true with Reed Sheppard. Just two years ago, Sheppard was seen as the local throw-in for a John Calipari recruiting class that was the best in the country. Cal had three of the top five recruits in the nation -- Justin Edwards,

After averaging 30.7 points (40.5% on 3-pointers) and 8.0 assists in three games, the NBA G League honored Reed Sheppard as its Player of the Week.
