President Donald Trump on Thursday announced he would nominate Council of Economic Advisers Chairman Stephen Miran to fill the open governor role at the Federal Reserve until the term expires in Janua

Miran has been a major defender of Trump’s income tax cuts and tariff hikes. He also has played down the risk of Trump’s tariffs generating higher inflation.

P resident Trump said he would nominate Stephen Miran, the head of the White House Council of Economic Advisers, to fill a vacancy on the Federal Reserve’s board of governors on a short-term basis. Trump tapped Miran in December to lead the CEA, and he was confirmed by the Senate to his current post in March.
