Mufasa: The Lion King, as its title suggests, is the story of Simba’s father, the great and noble king of the pride lands.

The opening flood, down to the way Mufasa clings to a tree branch and calls for his father, is a direct parallel to the wildebeest stampede that will eventually take the elder Mufasa’s life.
