CRANSTON, R.I. (WPRI) — A Providence police officer suffered serious injuries after being struck by a car in Cranston. Police say Providence and Cranston police were escorting a funeral procession in the area of Cranston and Seneca streets when an elderly driver went to turn and hit the officer, who was on a motorcycle.

Locals call it the "little red dot," after its diminutive proportions on world maps, but Singapore punches above its weight when it comes to offering travelers luxury living. A Providence police officer suffered serious injuries after being struck by a car in Cranston.

Providence police said an officer who was conducting a funeral escort Friday morning was struck by a vehicle. According to police, the motor officer was at the intersection of Cranston and Seneca Street when a driver cut off the procession and struck the officer.
