Pascal Jansen was hired Monday to replace Nick Cushing as coach of Major League Soccer team New York City and given a four-year contract, a week after leaving Hungarian club Ferencvaros in the middle of the season.

New York City FC named Pascal Jansen as its new head coach, replacing Nick Cushing, who was fired in November. Jansen, who was born in London and raised in the Netherlands, has been the manager at Ferencvarosi TC in Hungary since June and has the team in second place through 16 matches (10-2-4).

The 51-year-old Dutch manager will take over the reigns at the Eastern Conference MLS side, which lost in Eastern Conference semifinals last year
