Central NY will see more snow as lake effect snowstorm continues
Lake effect snow is expected to hit parts of Central New York starting this morning and going into the evening, according to the National Weather Service. The amount of expected snowfall will be 6 to 10 inches within the most intense snow bands north of the Thruway.

First days of 2025 will see heavy lake effect snow across Central NY, parts of Upstate NY
Starting at 1 p.m. today, heavy lake effect snow is expected to start falling in Cayuga, Jefferson, Lewis, Madison, Oneida, Onondaga and Oswego counties, according to the National Weather Service. Lake effect snow is also forecast for Buffalo and areas south of the city.
Map Shows States Bracing for Lake-Effect Snow as Up to 3 Feet Projected
The NWS says "heavy" lake-effect snow is projected to bring up to 20 inches of snow in areas of upstate New York by Thursday. Additional bands of the lake-effect snow could bring the total to 3 feet. Following are the snow projections for the three states:
