Snow created an eerie atmosphere on January 4, as a lake-effect fall spread heavily across the northern part of New York state.Footage recorded by Richard Hulburd of the X account @Weather_buffalo shows what Hulburd described as “almost five feet of snow” coating Camden in a thick blanket.

Early morning commuters will want to be alert for icy road conditions as a wintry mix of snow and freezing rain moves in on Monday morning.

Winter weather advisories remain in effect for parts of northeastern Illinois on Monday, with lake-effect snow and freezing drizzle possible.

Waves of freezing rain and light snow were seen throughout the day in Wilmette, but conditions were smooth on Sheridan Road as the evening rush began Monday. Andrew Ramos reports from the Mobile Weather Lab.

The most significant lake-effect snow is expected in Lake County, Illinois, with generally 3 to 5 inches of snow possible.

"A band of lake effect snow will produce slippery travel conditions and rapidly changing conditions," according to a hazardous weather warning issued by the National Weather Service.
