A U.S. Army base originally named after a Confederate general, then renamed Fort Liberty, will revert to the name Fort Bragg.

The base was renamed Fort Liberty in 2023 to disassociate from Confederate Gen. Braxton Bragg. It’s now named after Roland L.

Defense Secretary has signed an order restoring the name of a storied special operations forces base back to Fort Bragg.

The massive post will now be called Fort Roland L. Bragg while in the past it was named for Gen. Braxton Bragg, a Confederate general from Warrenton.
