China's Commerce Ministry says Beijing is evaluating multiple approaches by the Trump administration for trade talks.

The US president has flagged that he will lower his unprecedented 145 per cent tariffs on Chinese goods and “won’t play hardball”.

China has warned other countries against making a broader trade deal with the United States at Beijing's expense, ratcheting up its rhetoric in a spiralling tariff war between the world's two biggest economies.
