New York City mayoral hopeful Andrew Cuomo slams his opponent Zohran Mamdani’s past statements about the city’s police department in an interview with CNN’s Kasie Hunt.

A specter is haunting New York City — the specter of socialism. When 33-year-old Zohran Mamdani decisively beat former Gov. Andrew Cuomo to win the Democratic mayoral primary, he put himself within arm’s reach of City Hall and sent the city’s financial elite into shock.

He is not the Democratic nominee. He is an independent. And unlike even the optimistic forecasts for Zohran Mamdani’s victory last month, Cuomo is not campaigning in the wake of any razor-thin margin or ranked-choice-vote calculus that pushed him into a close second. He really came nowhere close to winning.

Cuomo's comeback announcement got significantly ratioed by Mamdani's reply, which also raked in lots of new donations for the Democratic mayoral nominee.

Andrew Cuomo made his way across New York City’s five boroughs over the weekend stopping into public housing cookouts in Harlem, pouring rum behind a bar in Brooklyn and walking in the Colombian Day Parade in Queens.

In the weeks since the primary, several prominent donors who had been supportive of Cuomo pledged their support to Adams in the general election, including billionaire hedge-fund managers Dan Loeb and Bill Ackman, both of whom have become so entwined with the Adams operation that they have helped vet campaign hires.
