Walmart said that this year’s Thanksgiving meal is its “best offer yet,” including over 20 national and private brand items and its lowest-priced turkey since 2019. The one-click basket serves 10 people for less than $40, and Walmart is offering free express delivery on the meal basket for first-time pickup and delivery customers.
Walmart has faced stiff challenges over the past twenty years from e-commerce (Amazon) and big-box brick-and-mortar retailers (Target). “Bittersweet change (we’ll miss Doug) happening in time of strength,” was the assessment of TD Cowen analyst Oliver Chen in a research note that praised Walmart’s incoming CEO. “We also believe he has a similar servant-leader mentality and people / execution focus to Mr. McMillon. We expect a continuation of current strategies.”
