The first half of the Orange Bowl played out as expected between the No. 7 Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the No. 6 Penn State Nittany Lions, with both teams relying heavily on their stout defenses and ability to run the football.

Indiana quarterback Kurtis Rourke had an elite season, but struggled mightily against the Notre Dame pass rush (and coverage) until the Irish played soft with a 24-point lead. Georgia quarterback Gunner Stockton, making his first career start, played about the same, the Irish constantly harassing and limiting in his impact.

Notre Dame doesn't need to stop Warren to slow down the Nittany Lions — it just needs to not let him tear up the game plan.
