Kim Kardashian is being sued for slander and libel after she posted an Instagram photo that inaccurately labeled a New York man as a Texas death row inmate.

Kim Kardashian shared a photo of Ivan Cantu on social media saying he was a death row inmate and that state of Texas would execute him in two days. Neither were true. The Cantu shared in the photo is a resident of Westchester,

Since Texas reinstated capital punishment and adopted lethal injection as its means of execution in 1977, the state has put 592 people to death, according to online records. Charlie Brooks was that first in that span. He was executed on Dec. 7, 1982 for the kidnap/murder of a Fort Worth auto mechanic.

Robert Roberson, a Texas death row inmate, has filed a new appeal. Roberson, who has autism spectrum disorder, claims innocence after 22 years on death row.
