SpaceX has launched a pair of lunar landers for U.S. and Japanese companies looking to jumpstart business up there.

Two robotic landers are set to begin their journeys to the moon Wednesday morning, when they launch aboard a SpaceX rocket from NASA's Kennedy Space Center.

The two lunar landers — Firefly Aerospace's Blue Ghost and Resilience, built by the Japanese company ispace — lifted off aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket early this morning (Jan. 15) from NASA's Kennedy Space Center (KSC) here on Florida's Space Coast.

Robotic vehicles from Firefly Aerospace of Texas and Ispace of Japan will part ways early Wednesday after launching from the same SpaceX rocket. Both are aiming for the lunar surface.
