The device explosions appeared to be the culmination of a monthslong operation by Israel to target as many Hezbollah members as possible all at once.

During his speech on Thursday, Israeli warplanes flew low over Beirut causing sonic booms across the capital. Hours later, Israel says it launched fresh air strikes in Lebanon targeting Hezbollah positions. For context: Hezbollah has blamed its adversary, Israel for the device explosions. Israeli officials have so far declined to comment.
