Florida residents won’t just be voting for president. They will also be deciding whether to legalize recreational marijuana–along with five other amendments. Here, we break down Amendment 3, its impacts and what Florida currently allows.

Former President Donald Trump said Sunday he will vote for a ballot measure in Florida that would legalize adult recreational marijuana use – a position that puts him at odds with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and other Republican leaders in the state.

As of Sept. 6, the cannabis company had contributed $87.77 million in cash and in-kind contributions to the Smart & Safe Florida committee since 2022, a state database shows.

The 2024 Florida Marijuana Policy Conference will be a timely opportunity for the cannabis industry to spotlight one of the hottest ballot initiatives this election cycle, which seeks to legalize marijuana for recreational use among adults 21 and older.

"We do not need to ruin lives & waste Taxpayer Dollars arresting adults with personal amounts of it on them, and no one should grieve a loved one because they died from fentanyl laced marijuana," he then claimed.

Trump, a Florida resident, said he’d be voting for the amendment that would legalize recreational pot in the state for adults, even as DeSantis campaigns against it.
