A portion of the Westmoreland Heritage Trail was severely damaged due to flooding last week. Now this week, work is underway to repair this community favorite, especially parts of the trail that run along Turtle Creek.

The declaration says that on May 28th, the county suffered widespread or severe damage from severe storms and flooding events. It was signed at 10:55 a.m. on June 13, 2025.

Maryland Gov. Moore requested that the Trump administration issue a Major Disaster Declaration to help communities that were impacted by severe flooding in May.
