Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan on Friday said he was "deeply disturbed" by the findings of animal fat in Tirupati temple 'prasadam' (consecrated food), and suggested setting up a 'Sanatana' national board to look into the issues pertaining to temples.

While YSRCP accused Chandrababu Naidu of indulging in “heinous allegations” and TDP circulated the lab report to back the claim.

At a legislature party meeting in Vijayawada on Wednesday, marking 100 days of the NDA regime in Andhra Pradesh, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu alleged that ghee used in the prasadam at the Tirupati Tirumala temple during the previous YSR Congress Party's tenure was adulterated with animal fat.

In the plea, the petitioner said the alleged presence of animal fat in the laddu is symptomatic of larger systemic issues in temple administration and has called for the sanctity of Hindu religious practices to be protected.

Union Health Minister JP Nadda has sought a report on the alleged use of animal fat in the famous Tirupati laddoos. Speaking to the media, the said that Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) will examine the report and action will be taken after that.

The claim by Naidu at a meeting of NDA to mark 100 days of his government created a huge controversy since the laddus are offered to Lord Venkateshwar at Tirupati and consumed by millions as prasadam.
