The long standoff between the Cincinnati Bengals and first-round pick Shemar Stewart is over. Stewart and the Bengals agreed to his contract on Friday, ending one of the stranger rookie contract stalemates to occur since the rookie wage scale started a year ago. And somehow, the Stewart contract details make it all the stranger.

Shemar Stewart is the last unsigned first-round pick from the 2025 NFL Draft, but his holdout is not unprecedented.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Cincinnati Bengals and Shemar Stewart have reached an agreement on his rookie contract. Schefty adds that the Bengals are giving Stewart a fully guaranteed deal.
