Pier is well maintained, a nice walk out to end and back. There are two restaurants that were quite crowded when we were at the pier. Menus looked like a lot of variety and lots of seafood dishes. … Full review by Grammy2014
Should I bring/ship my own fishing gear for my son and I, or just rent from the bait shop? We’ll be flying in for about 4 days. Thank you:)

You are able to rent gear on the pier but depending on how much fishing/how many days/people you may want to bring your own. I also felt like bait prices were a bit high.
I did see dogs on the pier & didn't see any signs excluding them so my guess is it's ok as long as you are considerate to the rest of the public ( cleanup, leash, etc)

There are charters that leave from the Venice Jetty, about 4 miles north of the pier and other that leave from the marina in Osprey. Also about 15 miles south at Englewood and a bit further south from Stump Pass. Google charter fishing Venice FL and you should have no trouble.
