Wow. We were lucky and it wasn’t busy. You can walk to the stones or catch the bus, which runs every 5 minutes, easy low step on and off. Short ride to the drop off area then a walk to the stones,…Full review by P798QRdebc

I reckon 32 quid each plus you need to pay for car parking is a bit steep, anyway theres buses to ferry you along the 2 clicks to where the site is or you can walk along the road or take the paddock …Full review by 13Astroboy

It was really old. I mean really old - was expecting a much more modern experience. Just a load of rocks lying about, willy-nilly. They're not even that big really: was expecting bigger. Not very col…Full review by Philip C
In a few weeks I will spend the night in Amesbury and won't have a car. I was planning to go on foot to Stonehenge, since it is just 3 km, but the path would involve the A303, or so it appears. Is there a footpath alongside it perhaps?

Evening all. Can you actually get close to the stones and if so, how close? Thank you

Generally as the previous reviewer states, you can only get ablot 25 m from stones. HOWEVER, if you sign up for the Stonr Circle experience, you get to spend about 45 minutes right within the stones. You can get as close as you want as long as you don't touch them. You have to book this on their website (best to do as early as possible). They schedule these appts either early before the site opens or late after it closes to regular ticketholders. We did this last Sept in the evening and it was fantastic. Your guide can answer your questions as well. As we left the site, we could watch the moon rising over the Stones. It was magical. If you can possibly schedule this, its worth it.
I hope this makes sense but is there any advantage to purchasing a 'skip the line' ticket vs booking a standard ticket online through English Heritage? It seems you'll need to wait in a line when you arrive regardless, correct?
