I’ve got some bad news for any non-members of the RSPB. Where there has only been a charge for car parking for non-members, which at present is £5.00 per car for non-members and has been the same since Saltholme opened with just a car park charge for any amount of non-members in a car. But from the 1st January 2020 the admission charges will change completely from per car to per person and the admission charge per person if your a non-member will be £3.00 per adult slightly less per child under a certain age. So 2 adults in a car, the total admission charge will be £6.00 and that is £3.00 per adult. I don’t know whether as at present whether non-members will still get free admission if they travel by public transport to Saltholme. RSPB members of course get free admission. Found our all these details on the RSPB website, looking at the visiting details for Saltholme on Monday evening just gone.

Hi there is space for a motorhome in the car park although only during out opening hours 9.30-5.00 in the summer and 9.30-4.00 in the winter, as outside of those hours the site is locked. Dogs are allowed into the carpark but not onto the main site.
I meet friends monthly for coffee and a catch up. Saltholme was suggested for our next meeting. If we're just using the cafe, will it still cost £5 parking. Travelling from different towns, so 4 cars.... Makes an expensive coffee

Just to confirm if you are just coming in to use the café or shop, there is not charge for entry. There are no pay and display machines in the car park, we trialed them when we first opened but there hasn't been a parking charge for 7 years. We charge entry to the reserve per car and if you wish to venture further out onto the reserve after visiting our café and shop, then we will ask you pay the £5 entry charge. RSPB members do receive free entry into the reserve. I hope that clears up all confusion over using the café/shop and gaining entry to Saltholme
