The catacombs are located under the church so you take a stairway down to that area and at the end of the tour you have to walk back up. There is no elevator. With the guided tour …

The catacombs are located under the church so you take a stairway down to that area and at the end of the tour you have to walk back up. There is no elevator. With the guided tour you'll be there about 45 minutes perhaps.

It’s not very long. I agree it must be around every 30 minutes or so. We were first placed in a non-English group, stepped out and were assigned to an English tour shortly afterwards.
