I don't think that there is any plausible reason for this. They asked us whether we have camera. As we were not carrying any, we were instructed to switch our mobile phones off, and not to use them inside the building. Somehow, photography is prohibited at almost all the Indian tourist places. This peculiarity is for India, probably because we excel in breaking all rules, and would not stop from posing for selfies.
